Salary: Starting salary of £46,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, qualifications, and overall suitability for the role.

Additional Compensation: Performance-related bonuses and incentive schemes are available, with realistic total first-year earning potential of £55,000 – £65,000+ per annum.

Role Overview:

As a Trainee Investment Analyst, you will work closely with experienced analysts, portfolio managers, and investment professionals, gaining practical exposure to financial markets, investment research, and portfolio analysis.

You will assist in evaluating investment opportunities across a range of asset classes, contribute to research projects, and support the development of investment recommendations. The role provides a structured learning environment designed to build both technical expertise and commercial understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market, sector, and company research to support investment decision-making.
  • Analyse financial statements, company reports, and economic data.
  • Assist in identifying investment opportunities across equity, fixed income, and alternative asset classes.
  • Support the preparation of investment reports, presentations, and research materials.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and assist in evaluating investment outcomes against objectives.
  • Track market developments, economic trends, and regulatory changes affecting investment strategies.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers and senior analysts on investment projects and client reporting.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of research processes and analytical methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate records and support investment documentation requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programmes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Genuine interest in financial markets, investing, and economic developments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools.
  • FCA/PRA certification completed or in progress.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
